More tuning

08/06/09 | by admin [mail] | Categories: General

I did some tuning today on light throttle openings, and its much much better to ride now.
Still needs some fine tuning though.
I’m really going to have to change the gearing on this bike - right now it will do around 100km/h in first gear

Running video

Here is a youtube video of the bike running I took today.
Next time I will try and get some action footage.

Finished pictures

I realised today that I didn’t have any pictures of the bike as it currently stands.. running and roadworthy.

Higher resolution pics can be grabbed by removing the -800 from the filenames.

Painted

Well the bike has been painted, but its going back some time after Phillip Island to fix the stripes that aren’t in a straight line.

Over the weekend we worked on tuning the bike, but it rained on and off throughout the day, so road tmie was restricted.
We also had some weird issues where the bike would just die completely. Leaving it for a few seconds would allow it to start, but
it would die again shortly after. Late in the day I noticed that the tank breather seemed to be almost completely blocked, which could
have been causing a vacuum in the tank and stopping any more fuel coming out. I’m hoping this is the problem, and we can get further with
the tune on the weekend.

Paint update

I dropped the bike off at the painters today.
Managed to get a bit more work done on it before it left.
I’ve ditched the Koso clocks because they started to play up. I think they are cheap crap. I bought another set of Acewell clocks, which I have been using on my RD350LC for 12 months with no issues. Also put some new brake lines on because the other ones did not have moulded fittings. To meet the street regulations in Australia, all brake lines must have moulded fittings.
I also sealed the upper pipes with some copper silicone sealer, so hopefully this will cure the 2 stroke oil leaking down the back of the engine.
so what’s left?

- Tail light and indicators (all ordered)
- Oil level sensor for the oil tank
- Clean up the wiring a bit more
- Registration
- Basic tune of the EFI

Its looking more likely that I will get it done in time for October 5!
